Perstorp has plans to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by around 500,000 tonnes by producing sustainable methanol. With ‘Project Air’, the company aims to build a first-of-a-kind, large-scale, commercial Carbon Capture, and Utilisation (CCU) unit to produce the green methanol.
Perstorp has introduced the world’s first partly renewable carboxylic acids – 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid Pro and Valeric Acid Pro with a renewable content of 25 % and 20 % respectively. The oxo acids are expected to lower carbon footprint and also support the sustainable sourcing of renewable raw material.
The green-field plant is expected to produce Penta including the renewable grades of Voxtar. Construction of the plant already began in October and commercial production is expected to begin in Q1 2022.
With an aim to improve the company’s safety culture, Perstorp established the global safety project – ‘Project Dolphin’ and with the support of Dupont Sustainable Solutions developed a new safety protocol for its seven international manufacturing sites.

The huge investment has been carried out by Perstorp to increase its capacity of Sodium Formate based Pergrip Run NF for airport runways. Together with its partner, Dalshult, the firm will granulate solid Sodium Formate Deicer at the soon to be constructed facility.
As the global demand for pentaerythritol (Penta) keeps growing, Perstorp is increasing the effective annual production capacity at its Bruchhausen/Arnsberg plant in Germany by 12.5 %. The expansion work at Site Bruchhausen started in June 2018 and is on track for completion in May.
Under the deal, Ingevity will take over Perstorp UK which comprises of the firm’s entire caprolactone business. With this sale, the Perstorp Group is now aiming to develop its Polyol, Oxo and Feed businesses.
