Celanese has plans to expand its engineered materials compounding capacity at three of its manufacturing facilities in Asia – Nanjing, China; Suzhou, China; and Silvassa, India. The move has been undertaken to support the expected growth of compounded polymers.
Celanese Singapore has extended its long-term contract with Linde Gas Singapore for the supply of carbon monoxide to its acetyls chemical unit based in Singapore. The new extended contract will enable the facility to gain access to a strategically advantaged supply of carbon monoxide.
Celanese intends to construct a world class Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) plant in China to support its Vectra and Zenite LCP product lines. This major investment is expected to support approximately 20 kilotons of LCP production every year.
Korea Engineering Plastics is a joint venture firm of Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Celanese and Mitsubishi Corporation. Under a MOU signed between the partners, the JV firm will now aim to focus on manufacturing and supplying high quality polyoxymethylene products to its shareholders who will then market it globally.
Celanese (Nanjing) Chemical has extended its contract with Nanjing Chengzhi Clean Energy Co. Under the terms of the agreement, the carbon monoxide feedstock will be supplied to Celanese’s acetic acid plant in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lunan together with Celanese and Swchem will establish an industrial scale pilot plant in Teng Zhou, China to test industrial scale production of acrylic acid using acetic acid as the core raw material.
Celanese has completed the acquisition of the Elotex brand, Nouryon’s redispersible polymer powders business and will now take charge of the firm’s global facilities that are involved in the production of this brand. Celanese will also integrate the Elotex product portfolio and production facilities into its global vinyl acetate ethylene emulsions business.
Under the deal, Celanese is expected to acquire all of Nouryon’s global production facilities across Europe and Asia that deal in redispersible polymer powder. Celanese will also take over all the products under the Elotex portfolio along with all customer agreements and technology.
Celanese announced preliminary plans to expand its emulsion polymers derivatives business to extend the value of its global acetyl chain. The expansion projects include sites in Nanjing, China and Geleen, Netherlands.
