From Waste to Renewal, Chambroad Shapes a "Renewable" Future
Boxing, China, April 22, 2024 — Plastic pollution remains one of the world's significant challenges. Chambroad is accelerating its commitment to sustainable development by leveraging chemical recycling to address plastic pollution and resource wastage effectively.
In April 2024, Chambroad Polyolefin, a subsidiary of Chambroad, successfully delivered the first batch of 300 kilograms of chemically regenerated polypropylene (PP). This achievement marks a milestone in the conversion from waste plastic to hot pyrolysis oil to new recycled plastic, establishing closed-loop plastic chemical recycling. The successful production of regenerated PP will provide low-carbon plastic materials for high-end packaging, offering greener choices for businesses and consumers.
Chemical recycling breathes new life into waste materials
Since November 2023, Chambroad Polyolefin and Comy Energy with the support of Shiseido (China) have collaborated to promote the recycling of cosmetic plastics. In April 2024, Shiseido, Comy and Chambroad jointly celebrated the introduction of recycled plastic oil into refining and processing units. The chemical recycling project uses plastic packaging waste from Shiseido's products as raw materials, converting it into hot pyrolysis oil and then producing PP for application in packaging, thus achieving plastic regeneration.
Accelerating the industrial scaling of chemical recycling
As low-carbon, sustainable development becomes the global trend, the chemical materials sector is undergoing a comprehensive low-carbon circular transformation. With its adaptability to various raw materials, environmental benefits, and maintaining product quality, chemical recycling of waste plastics has gained global attention. The plastic recycling economy has transformed from a flexible concept into a key performance indicator for sustainable corporate development. This shift is supported by national policies and the strategic efforts of leading petrochemical companies, brand owners, and packaging companies, fueling demand for post-consumer recycled plastic packaging and related products.
Elevating the role of chemically recycled plastics
Chemically recycled plastics possess the same physical properties and stability as virgin plastics, overcoming the limitations of physical recycling that often results in downgraded applications. They meet the stringent safety and hygiene standards required in high-end fields such as food and medical industries, offering more sustainable options for premium products.
Plastic chemical recycling introduces a novel concept for enterprise development: turning downstream outputs and waste materials into new resources. This approach promotes the shift toward recycling-oriented businesses and transitions from extracting to developing resources, thereby alleviating pressures on fossil fuel supply and reserves. It ensures high-value reuse of PP and opens new recycling avenues for many non-degradable plastic products.
Chambroad, committed to the philosophy that "waste is a misplaced resource", has pioneered new methods for handling plastic waste and enhancing resource utilization. Looking forward, Chambroad will continue to strengthen the momentum of recycling initiatives within the waste plastic chemical recycling industry chain, towards a more comprehensive waste recycling system. It is part of the company’s transformation strategy, aligned with environmental, social and governance principles, to foster a greener, more modern lifestyle, and a more sustainable future.
