Granulation and granule drying are key unit operations in continuous manufacturing. QbCon® 1 is the only R&D system worldwide designed to meet the quality requirements of pharmaceutical production. A short residence time in the dryer combined with a narrow residence time distribution is essential to enable targeted removal of off-spec material without discarding an unnecessarily large fraction of product. In addition, tight residence time distributions improve material traceability across the continuous process, simplifying the linkage of finished tablets to their starting materials—and, conversely, tracking starting materials through to the final tablet.
